Transform a Small Room in to a Guest Room and Office

Our customers bring us challenges every day and we love a challenge.  This particular customer had one spare room in a very small Park Model.  The problem was this room was also a pass-thru to the back door.  They needed a guest room and office, but still needed to use the room during the day making a traditional bed and desk out of the question.

Our solution was to design and build them a space that gave them the guest quarters and office space they needed while leaving the floor space totally open during the day.  We incorporated a computer workstation, area for files, a wardrobe closet for guests, and a Murphy Wall Bed.  The finish the customer chose was a custom glaze over natural Alderwood.

Below are some pictures of the transformation:

We take great care in making sure your house does not look like a tornado went through.  Installation of this project took our crew about five hours.

The bed parts start to take shape.

Next we move on to the office section by starting to set the base cabinets.

The desktop is set in place.  Read on to see how we dealt with the electrical panel on the wall.

Now you can see the wardrobe cabinet in place.  Not real deep, but enough for a few shirts and pants for guests.  The wardrobe hanger that you see slides out for easy access.  The electrical panel remains accessible through the cabinet.

The wall bed is now in place.  We had to customize this slightly to mount the crown molding flush to the ceiling to match the cabinets.  We also added some trim on the face to give the look of drawers at the bottom of the bed.

Office area almost complete.  The drawers to the left have a drawer to hold files.

Completed office area.  Wallbed shows on far right of picture.

Here is the completed wallbed with the crown molding installed.

Completed office.

Here is the wallbed in the lowered position.  This customer choose to upgrade to a premium mattress from our wide selection.

Lower section of the office.  The corner cabinet under the desk might look silly, but when you are trying to maximize every inch of space, it makes sense.

Another view of the completed project.  Ordering custom enables you to do just about anything!
